Purchasing Recycled Auto Parts
The National Parts Code administers a voluntary
Code of Practice, which is adopted by professional auto parts recyclers.
The recyclers who participate in the National Code of Practice guarantee
to consumers they will only sell recycled parts, which have been
removed from vehicles that have been purchased through legitimate
means.

Special Notice to Repairer Networks
There are a number of Insurerswww.partscode.com.au/news that have now indicated their suppliers of auto parts recycled parts must be National Parts Code participants. The list of participating businesses can be found by clicking on the relative state on our Website www.partscode.com.au To support change in our Industry we ask all repairers to buy from those willing to be presented as professional legitimate auto parts recycling businesses and have adopted the National Parts Code of Practice. These businesses have voluntary open themselves to examination and audit by the NPC.
This list is reviewed each week and is current.
All Code of Practice Participants are required
to adhere to the following:
- Must sell Auto Parts, which are clearly labelled
in such a way they can identify the source of each part.
- On the sale of such items must provide a receipt
with the following information:
a. National Parts Code Number
b. The component identification number
c. Description of the component
d. Date of Sale
e. Sale Price
If you have purchased an auto part/s and you believe
the following:
- The part you have purchased has been stolen
- You have purchased a part, but you have cannot
find any evidence of the legitimate origin
You may expect a full refund of the purchase
price of the part, or the participating business will replace the
part at the customers’ discretion.
You will be advised by the Manager or owner
of the participating business to contact the National Parts Code
Inc on (03) 9840 1002 who in turn will investigate the matter.
These requirements are additional to contacting
your local police or crime stoppers.
